Midco: Connecting Homes and Businesses Since 1931

Midcontinent Communications — or Midco for short — has been connecting homes and businesses since 1931. They are the premier provider of internet, TV, phone, advertising and data center services in the Midwest. Over 440,000 residential and business customers rely on Midco’s services throughout five Midwestern states. They deliver advanced wireless technology to bridge the digital divide in rural areas, and plan to deploy 10G throughout their coverage areas by 2025.

Midco also strives to reduce their impact on the environment through sustainable workplace practices like LED and motion sensor lights, operating fuel-efficient generators and recycling equipment and supplies.

Midco believes in investing in the communities they serve, and in 1987 they created the Midco Foundation. Since then, they’ve donated more than $5 million to local charities, nonprofits, governments and schools that advance communities and individuals throughout their service area. Organizations they’ve supported in the Black Hills include the Rapid City Club for Boys, Youth and Family Services, Sturgis Community Preschool, Inc., Black Hills Works, and Working Against Violence, Inc.

Black Hills Wire is proud to have Midco as a corporate sponsor supporting military spouses, veterans, and innovative initiatives. Their dedication to ambitious, imaginative and positive impacts in the Black Hills helps our service members stay connected to the ones they love.
