Area School District Calendars
There’s a new school year upon us, and while it won’t look anything like we’re used to—at least not initially—there are still important dates to keep track of and activities to pencil onto your calendar. Due to the uncertainty and changing conditions related to COVID-19, parents are urged to check their school calendars frequently for updates.
Douglas School District
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8. There willbe a Taco Tailgate Party on Friday, September 18 from 5:15-6:00 p.m. at Patriot Stadium prior to Douglas High School’s game against Sturgis. Vandenberg Elementary will be hosting a Back to School Party/Family Fun Night on Friday, September 25 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Homecoming Week at Douglas High School is September 14-18. Conferences are scheduled for October 6 and October 8. There is no school on October 9 (conferences), October 12 (Native American Day), November 11 (Veteran’s Day), November 23-27 (Thanksgiving Break), and December 21-January 1 (Christmas Break). The district calendar will be updated as warranted.
Rapid City Area Schools
Regular classes begin on Tuesday, September 8. Fall Break is scheduled for October 12-13. There is no school on November 11 (Veteran’s Day), November 20-27 (Thanksgiving Break), and December 23-January 1 (Christmas Break). New Underwood School District
Classes are already underway in the New Underwood School District. Winter Homecoming is September 21-25. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 1. Picture Day is October 22, with retakes available on November 19. A Blood Drive will be held from 2:00 – 4:30 on October 26. Students will be released early (12:00) on November 25 for Thanksgiving Break, which continues through November 27. Winter Break occurs December 21-December 31. Meade School District
The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 8. Homecoming Week is September 21-25, with Coronation on the 21st; a Royalty Tour on the 23rd; Parade on the 25th (2:00 p.m.); and the Homecoming Game against Sturgis on the 25th (6:00 p.m.). Parent Teacher Conferences will be held October 5, 6, 8, and 13; there is no school on October 9, October 12 (Native American Day), November 25-27 (Thanksgiving Break), and December 21-31 (Christmas Break).
