West River Electric: Powering You for a Brighter Future
West River Electric has been serving the community for 80 years now—a feat that has come with hard work and dedication from both their employees and their cooperative owners. They have a coverage area of 4,500 square miles, including over 2,500 miles of electric line in western South Dakota located within Pennington, Meade, Haakon, Ziebach, Jackson and Oglala Lakota Counties. As an energy cooperative, they are safety-conscious and community-oriented, putting the needs of their members at the forefront of everything they do.
In addition to supporting our men and women in uniform, West River Electric’s community involvement includes scholarship programs for both teachers and students, sponsoring local youth to participate in the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, and donating to charitable programs in their service area through Operation Roundup. Recipients include local FFA chapters, the Allied Arts fund, and Youth & Family Services.
Black Hills Wire is proud to have West River Electric as a corporate sponsor supporting military spouses, veterans, and innovative initiatives. Their commitment to their community and our servicemembers is greatly appreciated, both through reliable utilities and their philanthropic contributions.
